National Service Scheme (NSS)

Our NSS unit is more  than four decades old and has served excellently over the years for the benefit our society in general and the rural community in particular, covering many villages in and around Ambur in trying to make them self-sufficient, clean and  green. Our volunteers have been able to create social awareness for the development of our country and ample opportunities have been provided for the development of leadership qualities and personality development.

Activities 2020-2021

  • NSS Day Celebration: The NSS of our college celebrated the NSS Day 2020-2021 on 24 September 2020 at 10.30 am through a virtual meet. The Resource person and Chief Guest for the NSS Day Celebrations, Dr. M. Mohammed Abubakkar, Asst. Professor of Economics and former NSS Programme Officer spoke about the importance of the NSS and the role of NSS in serving the society and the nation.
  • Mahatma Gandhiji Centenary Completion Celebration: A webinar was organized on 02 October 2020, Friday at 3 pm - celebrate the 151st Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation. An E- Quiz was conducted - Encourage Students - Enrich themselves with the Lifestyle of the Mahatma. The students from our college, not only the NSS volunteers but also other students participated in this quiz programme enthusiastically. The students were issued E- Certificates in appreciation of their participation.- mark the centenary Celebrations the NSS team of our college also organized the ‘Tree Plantation’ in the campus, by planting new saplings and also taking care of them, maintaining the SOP during the COVID-19 lockdown.
  • Youth Awakening Programme: A webinar was organized on 15 October 2020, Thursday at 9.30 am in remembrance of our former president Dr. A. P.J. Abdul Kalam and - celebrate his Birth Anniversary and World Students’ Day through a virtual meet.
  • A Speech competition on ‘Life of Dr. A. P.J. Abdul Kalam: An inspiration for Youth’ was held on 15 October 2020 at 3.00 pm - encourage students - enrich themselves with the lifestyle of Dr. A. P.J. Abdul Kalam. The students from our college, not only the NSS volunteers but also other students participated in this speech competition enthusiastically.
  • Vigilant Awareness Week: The NSS Units of our college observed the Vigilant Awareness Week from 27 October 2020 - 02 November 2020 - take a stand against corruption. Students were encouraged - participate in the Online Essay and Poster Making Competition in Tamil/English organized the Vigilance Awareness Cell, Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Chennai. Mejaz Althamish of II B.Sc (Mathematics) participated in the essay competition. The Integrity Pledge was taken by all the staff and students of our college on 31 October 2020 at 11.15 am during their online classes.
  • Rashtriya Ekta Diwas: The NSS Units of our college celebrated the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31 October 2020, the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge was taken by all the staff and students of our college at 11.00 am during the online classes.
  • District Collector and Superintendent of Police honoured our Secretary and Correspondent and Principal with mementoes and appreciation certificates for the excellent services of our NSS program officers and 100 NSS student volunteers during the Covid-19 – Lockdown periods at Ambur town. Our NSS volunteers also got appreciation certificates from the District Collector on 13 November 2020 at Ambur Trade Centre, Ambur. The District Collector and SP appreciated the role played by our students in the lockdown periods in helping the people of Ambur. They appreciated our Principal and whole NSS team for their great services during lockdowns.
  • National Voters’ Day:

The NSS unit of our college observed the National Voters Day on 25 January 2021 in association with Ambur Municipality. Chief Guest and other officers shared valuable information with the students. Chief Guest Mr. A .Abdul Muneer, Deputy Collector gave an inspiring speech to our students. All III year students participated and I and II year students also participated through Google meet.

  • National Road Safety Awareness Month:

The NSS of our College observed the National Road Safety Awareness Month from 18 January 2021 to 17 February 2021. On this occasion a Road Rally was organized on 27 January 2021 to create Road Safety Awareness among the public. In collaboration with Ambur Town Police, RTO Office and New Vision Trust an Awareness program was conducted to our students in N.M.Z Auditorium on 16 February 2021. The Chief Guests for the day were Mr. C. K. Satchithanandan, DSP, Ambur, Mr. M.P. Kaliapan, RTO, Vaniyambadi, Mr. Babu, Road Inspector and Mr. N. Mujahid Akbar, CEO, New Vision Trust. All UG & PG students participated on 20 February 2021. National Road Safety Awareness E-Quiz conducted through Google platform. 106 students of our College participated.

  • Martyrs Day – Pledge against Untouchability:

The NSS of our college observed the Martyrs Day on 29 January 2021 at 11 am in the classes for the final year students. There was a two minutes silence to pay homage to the Martyrs. The pledge against untouchability was followed.

  • Abolition of Bonded Labour Pledge:

The NSS of our college observed the Abolition of Bonded Labour Pledge on 09 February 2021 at 11 am, the pledge was taken by all staff & students of our college.
