About the Department


Department of Urdu was established in the Year 1969. Urdu Department got One MRP in the year 2013 and successfully completed it in the stipulated time of 2 Years on 2015.  Urdu Department conducts International & National Seminar every year.  Urdu Department published one UGC seminar proceedings and a book of seminar articles by name “Indian Cultural Element In Urdu Literature”.  Urdu Department has Department Library with 500 books and the staff and students are benefitted from the library.  Dr. K.H. Kaleemulah, edited a book “ Mazhar-e-Adab" which is the existing book for All UG - Urdu Foundation classes affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University.  Urdu Department Faculties  present & publish papers in various Seminars & Conferences. Urdu Department Faculties publish papers in UGC Care Listed Journals.

2020-2021

One Day National Urdu Webinar was organized by the Department of Urdu on "Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and his Contributions" on 20 May 2021 at 10.30 am through virtual meet. The inaugural session was presided over by Secretary and correspondent, Alijanab M.Nazar Mohamed sahib, Dr. K. H. Kaleemullah, Principal i/c welcomed the participants and introduced the guests. Prof. Dr. K. Habeeb Ahmed, Professor and Head, Department of Arabic, Persian and Urdu, University of Madras delivered the keynote address and chaired the session. The paper presenters were Dr. Rafiuddin, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, Dr. Danish Gani, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, Dr. Nazim Munawer, Karimnagar, Telengana, Dr. M. Sayeeduddeen, Vaniyambadi, Tamil Nadu and Mr. P. Mohammed Jafar, Ambur.

2018-2019

Department of Urdu, under the auspices of Bazm-e-Adab-e-Urdu organized one day National Seminar on "Importance of Mushaira in the Development of Urdu Language and Literature" at N. M. Zackriah Auditorium on 12 March 2019. Dr. P. M. Aadil Ahmed, Principal delivered the Welcome Address. Alijanab Alhaj M. Nazar Mohamed, Secretary & Correspondent presided over the seminar. Mr. Anhar Saudi, Bangaluru, was the Chief Guest and Resource Person of the Seminar. A grand Mushaira (Poetry Recitation) was also conducted after the seminar. Staff and about 300 students participated in the seminar. Oratorical and Essay Writing competitions were conducted as a part of our 50th College Day Celebrations in Urdu,Tamil and English on 27 February 2019 for boys and girls separately. About 100 students participated in the competitions. Dr. A. Meeramaitheen was the coordinator of the event.

2017-2018

Oratorical and Essay Writing competitions were conducted as a part of our 50th College Day Celebrations in Urdu, Tamil and English on 20 March 2018 for boys and girls separately. About 100 students participated in the competitions. Dr. A. Meeramaitheen was the coordinator of the event.

2016-2017

Oratorical and Essay Writing competitions were conducted as a part of our 48th College Day Celebrations in Urdu, Tamil and English on 7 March 2017 for boys and girls separately. About 100 students participated in the competitions Prof. L. Azeez Ahmed and Prof. A. Shafee Ahmed Khan were the coordinators of the competitions.
