Best Practice I

1.Title of the Practice  

Fostering Blended Learning Environment for Skill enhancement and personality development

  1. Objectives of the Practice
  • To improve the quality in teaching-learning process through blended learning.
  • To enhance the skills of students to nurture creative thinking and problem-solving life skills along with social skills 
  • To impart proactive training and integrate resilience, agility and effective communication skill to meet industry expectations
  • To make our students competent in  their holistic development

  1. The Context

Skill enhancement and personality development is crucial for preparing students for the rapidly evolving digital world. A conducive teaching-learning environment with the help of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) along with the traditional teaching  is essential in the college to keep in pace with the technological advancement. Blended learning combines the benefits of traditional classroom teaching with emerging technology to make learning more real-time, contextual, and engaging. Active participation in such programmes also improves the personal and inter-personal skills, nurtures social relationship and fosters self-discipline that helps to enhance the students’ overall personality, aptitude and competency level.  

  1. The Practice 

All the departments of the college have conducted various certificate courses on skill development in their own domain. Workshops, seminars and webinars are organised to know the latest developments in their respective field. This enables the students to bridge the gap between the curriculum and requirements of industry and corporate sectors. MOUs with Edureka ,VIS learning Academy, TIPS academy are signed which offer certificate courses  like Python, Tally and Digital marketing where the  expert professionals from the industry impart relevant skills with industry projects. Language Lab in the name of MUCCSE (Mazharul Uloom College Centre for Spoken English) has been installed in the year 2016-17 to facilitate our students to learn English with correct pronunciation and to improve their overall English proficiency. Every year special Spoken English classes are conducted after their regular class hours.  21 Classrooms have Projectors installed and a Multimedia room with smart board facility is provided by the college, where the teachers engage the students to impart the effective learning   and make it more dynamic and interactive. 

  1. Evidence of success

Blended learning serve as a medium to bring out the best in every participant students both personally and academically. 12 certificate courses were organised by the departments and 639 students benefitted. 67 students completed TCS IoN Remote Internship programme.7 students have cleared NPTEL MOOC Certificate course apart from other academic subjects.. These programmes provide a great opportunity for an overall development of the students’ personality, aptitude and competency to its fullest.

  1. Problems encountered and Resource Required

Connectivity issues, 4G restrictions and lack of skills needed to use online platforms adeptly were the main problems encountered. Industry institute interaction should be improved. The college has tied up with some industries to improve quality in research.

Empowering Students as Entrepreneurs in Herbal Hair Oil Trade as a Start up

    • Equip students with the technical skills required for oil extraction and production.
    • Foster an understanding of market dynamics, consumer behavior, and competition in the oil industry
    • Cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset by encouraging creativity, risk-taking, and innovation in the context of oil-related businesses.

  • Promote sustainable practices in oil production and marketing, considering environmental and social impacts

 

  1. The Context

In today’s ever-changing business world, colleges have a vital role to play in providing students with hands-on entrepreneurial skills and knowledge. Integrating oil making and marketing programs into entrepreneurship programs is a great way for students to learn about sustainable business ventures in an important industry. By implementing these best practices, colleges can help shape the next generation of skilled, socially responsible entrepreneurs, ready to take on the challenges of the oil industry while advancing sustainable business practices.

 

  1. The Practice 

Khidmathunnisa, MUC Incubation Centre with NSS organised a Skill development Outreach Programme in preparation of Herbal Hair Oil at adopted Village at Nariyambattu. 35 students learnt the process of making Herbal Oil. They also were explained about the latest trends, technologies, and challenges in the oil business. They were also briefed up about the MSME concepts, licensing and branding the product.

 

  1. Evidence of success

Students learnt the oil making process through live demonstration. They also students purchased 50 bottles of 100 ml Herbal oil and sold by putting up a kiosk in college campus. Students learnt about the Entrepreneurship skills that are essential in positioning entrepreneurs to identify opportunities, make effective decisions, turn their ideas into reality, overcome challenges, and properly allocate resources to achieve goals and succeed. 

 

  1. Problems encountered and Resource Required

Funding for the social and community initiatives become a constraint. Since students can only devote a certain number of hours for these programmes, the number of events organised may be limited. Invest in well-equipped laboratories for practical sessions, including oil extraction machines, refining equipment, and testing facilities limited access to modern oil extraction and refining equipment can hinder practical learning experiences. The oil market's inherent volatility can make it challenging to predict trends and prepare students for real-world scenarios
