About the Department


Department of Commerce was established in the year 1975. The Department has ingenious and efficient faculty, and it is the largest department with highest student strength in the College. The Department frequently conducts various Workshops, Seminars and Faculty Development Programs to familiarise the students and faculty members about the recent developments in the present market scenario. The students are motivated to participate in various extension activities and co-curricular activities to increase their social responsibility and to develop competitive edge.

The students desiring for a career in Accounting & Finance, Management, Entrepreneurship and those who wish for a holistic development are assured of a successful academic experience by our Commerce Department in Mazharul Uloom College.

2020-2021

  • PG and Research Department of Commerce in association with BSE IPF IAP organized one day National Webinar on “Capital Market Awareness” on 7 February 2021 at 10 am through Zoom App. Dr. Sharan Kumar Shetty, Associate Professor, MSN Institute of Management, Mangalore, Ideator & Founder of Capital Advisors LLP was the resource person for the program. Students from B.Com., B.Com (CS)., and BBA participated in the program.

 

  • PG& Research Department of Commerce Association organized a guest lecture on “Career Awareness about Company Secretary” on 19 May 2021 at 10.00 am through Zoom meeting. Mrs. Chitra Anantaraman, Deputy Director, Institute of Company Secretary - SIRC was the resource person. She gave a detailed lecture on procedure for joining the ICSI course. She also provided valuable insights and extremely useful inputs about the career opportunities available after completion of ICSI course.

2019-2020

  • PG and Research Department Commerce organized one day Workshop on "Company Secretary Course" on 9 July 2019. Mrs. Chitra Anantharaman, Deputy Director, ICSI SIRO, Chennai was the Chief Guest for the Programme. Around 200 students from various departments participated in the programme.

2018-2019

  • 60 students from the department participated in National Level Seminar on "Innovative Practices in Modern Business" conducted by PG & Research Department of Commerce and Corporate Secretaryship, Mazharul Uloom College, Ambur on 07 March 2019.

2017-2018

  • PG & Research Department of Commerce organized one day "Career Awareness Program on Company Secretary" on 17 July 2017 at 11.30 am The Program was held at Sir Syed Ahmed Khan Convention Hall De P Saleem Basha, Head, Department of Commerce welcomed the gathering Dr. PM. Aadil Ahmed, Principal delivered the presidential address Ms Nishita Singhal, Assistant Director, Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Southern India Regional Office, addressed our students about the course and its importance in today's scenario. About 50 students attended the program. Prof V. Muthu, Assistant Professor of Commerce proposed the Vote of Thanks.

 

  • PG and Research Department of Commerce in association with the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) organized a one day awareness program on "Careers in Cost and Management Accounting Course" on 16 October 2017 at NMZ auditorium in our college. Dr. P. Saleem Basha, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Commerce welcomed the gathering. Dr. P. M. Aadil Ahmed, Principal delivered the presidential address, CMA Mr. Babu, B.Com, FICMA., CA (Final) Chairman, Ranipet - Vellore Chapter of Cost Accountants, ICAI delivered the chief guest address. Faculty members from Ranipet - Vellore Chapter of Cost Accountants CMAT, Natarajan and CMA R. Sandhiya were the resource persons for the event.

 

  • PG and Research Department of Commerce in association with "Securities and Exchange Board of India organized Financial Education Workshop on 14 February 2018 at NMZ auditorium in our college. Mr. S. N. Jayabalan. Financial Education Trainer, SEBI addressed the gathering. B.Com, B.Com (CS) and B.A (CE) students attended the program. Dr. P. Saleem Basha was the convener of the program.

 

  • Under the auspices of Commerce Association, a Special Programme on "Entrepreneurship and Career Guidance" was conducted on 26 March 2018 Dr. P. M. Aadil Ahmed, Principal presided over the function. Dr. D. Vetrivelan and Mr. K. Srinivasan, Assistant Professors, Department of Management Studies, Priyadarshini Engineering College, Vaniyambadi were the Chief Guests. Dr. P. Saleem Basha was the coordinator of the program.

2016-2017

  • A special programme was conducted in our college on "Company Secretaryship - Career Awareness" on 18 July 2016 for final students of Shift I B.Com., B. Com. (CS) and B.A. (CE) and for all I and II year students of BBA and B.Com. (CA). Prof. P. Saleem Basha was the convener of the programe.
